Our Mission
Paradise Alliance is a non-profit group in South Spokane County, WA
formed to fight the proposed zone changes on the east side of US Highway 195 between Paradise and
Stutler Roads. It has been zoned General Agriculture (GA), but there
is a proposal to change it to Mining (MZ). Our mission is to stop this change from occurring because:
 | This would allow a large quarry and asphalt batching plant to be developed near
us. |
 | The project threatens water supplies and water quality, property values, wildlife, air
quality and the peacefulness
of our neighborhood. |
 | Wells drying up, noise, air and water borne pollutants, huge increases in heavy traffic,
decreased property values, 24 hour and weekend operations are just a few of the many negative side
effects that this industrial plant/quarry would bring to the area. |
 | The builder has been allowed by the county to make a SEPA
Application for a zoning change without getting an Environmental
Impact Statement. And once he made this application he was allowed to
clear cut about 100 acres without getting the necessary permits which should
require a moratorium on all activity for 6 years (Forest Practice
Act). He has also been allowed to destroy known wetlands. Why hasn't this applicant been required to follow County and
Environmental Regulations when the rest of us are? |
