We now have the link to this website here. |
What can you do to help stop the mine? 1. Donate money to help
with attorney fees and hiring expert witnesses for the hearing. We are
asking people to make a monthly pledge so that we can budget our money.
Contact the Treasurer, Ruth Templeton for information:
448-0152. Or send donations to: 2. Attend the hearings when they are scheduled. If we have your email address (or name, phone #) we will try to keep you informed. At the last hearing there were approximately 200 members that attended setting a new record for traffic hearings. We wear red shirts so everyone knows we are representing Paradise Alliance. The county does pay attention to how many people attend to gage community support. 3. Post a sign in your yard. To get a sign, click here. 4. Write letters to ask that studies be done regarding the questions you have as to the dangers. (As of 2006, many of these studies have not been done though this is now in it's 3rd year. So please continue to write letters focusing on the lack of studies, etc.) For ideas as to what to write click here. Agencies such as the State Departments of Transportation, Fish and Wildlife, Ecology, etc. are established to assure proper consideration is taken to ensure the public safety and that all rules and regulations are followed to avoid or minimize the negative affects of projects such as this proposed mine and crushing plant. Letters to the editor are also effective for keeping our issues alive. Letters sent directly to the concerned agencies will yield the greatest results. And if you follow with a copy sent to James Manson (the Director at the Spokane County Div. of Planning) and to Paradise Alliance (address), your letter will make the maximum impression. You must include the Mine Zone Project File # ZS-15-03 on all letters. And remember that married couples and children can send separate letters because the total number of letters will be counted. The copies of the letters sent to Paradise Alliance will be used by our lawyer. Letters sent to James Manson will not be placed in the main project file, and there is no mechanism telling the individual agencies that issues specific to them are in the file. This is why it is important to address specific issues to specific agencies and to send a seperate copy to the File itself (address) . The agencies will react much faster if they receive the letter directly from you. And we need a copy in the File so that if anyone looks in this file then he/she will know what the community opinion is. For issues concerning wild animals, habitat, Elk/wildlife migration, and wetlands preservation write to:
For issues concerning dust and airborne contaminates write to:
For issues concerning soil, underground water sources, noise,
For issues concerning pit reclamation and disposing excess water, write to:
For issues concerning traffic on county roads, and school bus routes write to:
And please remember to CC: a copy of all letters to Paradise Alliance and:
